I’m Tired Of Being Single!

Dear GirlShrink,
I’ve been single for over a year now, and I’m tired of it. I’m a nice person, I like to think of myself as fun to be around, and I’m confident. I pay attention to what I eat and wear and how I look and present myself. I’ve been asked out once this month and he was not the kind of guy I wanted to be around at that point in time. Maybe this is God’s plan? Haha, well I’m a little frustrated. Thanks!

Dear Single Gal,
You are in a very common position. So many eligible, wonderful, beautiful women are single and hating every minute of it. It’s hard for me to give you really concrete advice without knowing your situation – but common themes I find among my single friends who hate being single are this:

1. Need to put yourself in new situations where you will be around new experiences and new men.

2. Need to change your requirements for a “man”. Especially if you haven’t updated them in years!

3. Need to be more approachable. Maybe guys are scared of you!

4. Need to find self-fulfillment. When women are very happy with themselves, suddenly they begin to attract better dates.

5. Need to change your idea of a “perfect” guy. It could be blocking you from meeting “your” real perfect guy.

6. If there is an old flame – please stop comparing him to any new guy you meet. It could be why you are alone. Either get back with him or let him go!
